Explore a concept site plan with the assumptions attached

Use Pillar's site planner to explore arrangements of lots and roads on a site boundary. Review the geometry and output figures, then export the concept for a discussion with your team.

  1. Review the boundary and planning inputs

Start with the parcel or boundary you intend to study. Check that it represents the proposed site and record the inputs used for the concept. If you are testing different lot dimensions or land allocations, name those scenarios so the comparison stays tied to the assumptions that produced it.

  2. Inspect the layout instead of stopping at the lot count

Generate a concept and look at the proposed roads, lot arrangement, and land allocation. A headline yield can hide questions about an awkward corner or an uncertain boundary. Note the changes you want to investigate and compare another scenario with those changes made explicit.

  3. Hand off the concept and its inputs together

Export the report or spreadsheet so the reviewer can see the assumptions beside the results. Use the concept to frame the next conversation about the site. Keep open questions about local requirements, access, utilities, and engineering with the review rather than treating the generated layout as a settled development outcome.

Questions to settle early

Does a generated concept establish what can be approved?

The site planner produces a concept. It does not supply a survey, engineering plan, or entitlement approval. The proposed project still needs the applicable site and planning review.

Can I see an example before using it?

The help page includes a sample report and spreadsheet generated by Pillar's production exporters from fictional inputs. Site planner access requires Pro.
